Mumbai, December 21 (IANS). Party president and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar expressed his happiness over the success of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the Maharashtra Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections. He said that the success in the local body clearly shows the public support towards the developmental and secular ideology of the NCP. He said that the public voted not only for promises, but for continuous work and effective leadership. Our decisions to strengthen infrastructure for overall development of the state, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, have been well received by the electorate. He said that this is the collective victory of Mahayuti. Wherever we have participated in elections together, voters have expressed their confidence in us. We will maintain this strength and coordination in the upcoming municipal elections as well. I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to all the newly elected presidents and councilors across the state. He also said that the success of the Mahayuti-led Maharashtra government is the result of the swift implementation of decisions, plans and projects taken for overall development in the last one year. He said that the state government also received full support from the central government. Deputy Chief Minister Pawar further said that the transformation of cities through municipal bodies, solving water related problems and giving priority to roads and health facilities will remain our main focus areas in the future. The deputy CM, on behalf of the NCP, thanked the people of Maharashtra for giving a decisive mandate to the Mahayuti by voting for the development of the state. He said that this victory has increased the responsibility of Mahayuti and the NCP.
