National Herald case: Crucial hearing on December 22 in Delhi High Court, ED challenges relief given to Sonia-Rahul

New Delhi, December 21 (IANS). The Delhi High Court will hear a criminal review petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday. In this petition, the order of the lower court was challenged, in which it refused to take cognizance of the ED’s money laundering complaint in the alleged National Herald case against Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and others. According to the case list published on the Delhi High Court website, a single-judge bench headed by Justice Ravinder Dudeja will hear the ED’s plea challenging the Rouselaan court order that dismissed the prosecution’s complaint filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Earlier on Tuesday, Vishal Gogane, the Special Judge (PC Act) of the Rouselaan court, refused to take cognizance of the ED’s complaint as it was not valid. However, the court gave relief to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and clarified that the ED is free to proceed with its investigation as per law. Apart from the Gandhi family, the ED has also named Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey, Sunil Bhandari, Young Indian and Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd as proposed accused in the case. The high-profile case pertains to allegations that senior Congress leaders conspired to illegally take over assets worth over Rs 2,000 crore from Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the parent publisher of the National Herald newspaper. He was paid a paltry sum of just Rs 50 lakh by Young Indian, in which Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are shareholders. The ED argued that the case was a serious economic offense and alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to form Young Indians to take over the properties of AJL for nominal amounts, the main objective of which was to favor the top leadership of the Congress. –IANS MS/DKP Share this story Tags

Kumari Shailaja’s statement on Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips: ‘If the allegations were true, BJP would not have just made statements’

Kumari Shailaja’s statement on Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips: ‘If the allegations were true, BJP would not have just made statements’

Mumbai, December 21 (IANS). Congress MP Kumari Shailaja in the Lok Sabha on Sunday refuted the ‘anti-India’ allegations leveled by the BJP against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his foreign trips and accused the party of being in the ‘habit’ of criticizing him. Congress MP Kumari Shailaja on Sunday accused the BJP of having only one agenda – ‘communal division’ – in every election, while comparing it to the Congress, which she said was always connected with the people. In an interview to IANS, Shailaja said that the Congress party is ready for the crucial BMC elections to be held next month. He also said that the BJP always decides to malign the Congress instead of presenting details of its performance in the last 11 years at the Centre. Question:- You are currently in Mumbai. Maharashtra local body results are out and there are also BMC elections. BJP has released the list of many prominent campaigners including Himanta Biswa Sarma, Yogi Adityanath. What is your plan to counter BJP? Answer:- This decision will be taken by the party. They will decide where star campers are needed, who to call and the party will make this decision considering the local situation and circumstances. However, BJP has only one agenda, communal division. When his star camp fighters come here, they will also give statements according to this agenda. Our party has always been connected with the people. Political circumstances keep changing. This is another thing, but our workers, especially here, have always raised public issues. Our people always work among the public and in the coming time when BMC elections will be held, you will see that all our people are fully prepared for it. Question:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BJP-led central government is correcting the mistakes of the Congress. The party was also said to have given free rein to infiltrators for votes. The government identifies these infiltrators and expels them from the country. What is your opinion on this? Answer:- When the honorable Prime Minister speaks, the media and everyone should listen carefully, but the facts should also come out. Where did he give speeches and how many infiltrators were identified and how many were expelled in 11 years? Instead of criticizing the Congress party without any reason, they should also give information about this. Defaming the Congress party has become the identity of BJP. It would be better if he answered himself about the last 11 years. No performance can be achieved simply by changing the names of the schemas. Question:- BJP has made many allegations about Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips, which include allegations against him that he met anti-Indian forces and ‘defaming the country’. What would you say about this? Answer:- If such activity has taken place till now, do you think that BJP has only continued to make statements instead of doing anything? Criticizing Rahul Gandhi has become a habit of BJP. These BJP members usually point fingers at Rahul Gandhi. Before criticizing Rahul Gandhi, he should also consider his own shortcomings. Question:- First Karnataka announced to introduce a law against hate speech and now Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also announced that the government will introduce a new law against hate speech and communal statements. Do you think this is the need of the hour? Answer:- Everyone sees how much poison is being spread in politics. Harmony is our culture, but spreading hatred is not our culture. We must never stoop so low. We must maintain harmony among ourselves. If we criticize someone in politics, it should be based on issues. Our culture also does not allow hate speech and should not be a place for it. Question:- Revanth Reddy also said that Christmas can be celebrated in Telangana only because of the sacrifices and contributions of Sonia Gandhi. What is your opinion on this? Answer:- I don’t know what he said or what he didn’t say but our country is a country of religious harmony. We respect everyone and we all celebrate each other’s festivals together. Question:- The issue of Aravali has become a topic of discussion at the national level. People are also protesting against the government’s stance. Do you think the Center made the right decision? Answer:- Humans cannot play with nature. This is not only a threat to the coming generations but also to the wildlife that lives in the forests and has full rights over these forests. If we tamper with it, people will definitely oppose it. Question:- ‘Vikas Bharat Gram Vikas Bill’ has been brought in place of MNREGA. The opposition is against this change. What is your opinion on this? Answer:- The government has two objectives, one is to erase the good work done and second is to change the name. He has nothing to do with the poor. He is only concerned with the rich. This is clearly visible in this bill. Question:- How do you view the hijab controversy? PDP leader Iltija Mufti also lodged an FIR against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar? Answer:- I would not call it only hijab controversy. I would say that for any woman, no matter what religion she belongs to, whether she wears hijab or niqab, she should be respected. Nitish Kumar should apologise. He is getting old and everyone can see that his public behavior has not been good for some time. –IANS office/abm

Hannan Mollah’s question to BJP, how many infiltrators have been expelled from the country?

Hannan Mollah’s question to BJP, how many infiltrators have been expelled from the country?

New Delhi, December 21 (IANS). CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah hit back at the statement of Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, saying that the Sangh should not be seen through the prism of the BJP. He said that there is only one perspective to look at the Sangh and that is the perspective of the BJP, which is often associated with those who are called blind devotees. Speaking to IANS in New Delhi, CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah said the Sangh is being viewed from a narrow perspective as it is a fascist organization inspired by Hitler’s ideas and does not believe in democracy. The Sangh does not believe in diversity, does not believe in equality of religions, believes in violence. The spectacles of BJP and Sangh are the same. The Sangh spends crores of rupees but it is not accounted for. On Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s statement ‘Because of Sonia Gandhi we are celebrating Christmas here today’, Hannan Mollah said it is a wrong statement. The whole world is watching. All religious festivals such as Christmas must be respected. It should not be linked to any one person. It is just an absurd statement and nothing more. On the TMC leader’s claim that he is building a Hindu temple in Bengal, Hannan Mollah said that millions of people do not have homes, the poor have nothing but are building the house of God. There is no virtue in this. It is a kind of barbarism. Spend in the name of God, make people fight, create riots and rule. On PM Modi’s statement on infiltrators, Hannan Mollah said how many infiltrators were sent out in his government. This is an excuse. They came to power in the name of infiltration, but how many were thrown out? Couldn’t even get out 100-200. There was a movement in Assam, the news spread all over the world, but how many infiltrators were expelled? Everything is an agenda of BJP. He said that in a big country like India, 100-200 people can come but cannot influence the policy and governance. BJP wants power under this agenda. There is a law regarding infiltrators in India. Regarding Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s statement on ‘Jee Ram Ji’ bill, he said that there are 50 million farmers and agricultural laborers in India. In one word, the central government wants to eliminate rural employment. Gandhi’s name was removed. MNREGA was a very good scheme. The workers demanded Rs 600 and 200 days of work. Farm workers fought but the Ji Ram Ji bill was brought. I think it will be phased out gradually. You won’t even get 125 days’ wages. –IANS DKM/VC Share this story Tags

Telangana: Political boil over CM Revanth Reddy’s statement on Christmas, BJP targets

Telangana: Political boil over CM Revanth Reddy’s statement on Christmas, BJP targets

New Delhi, December 21 (IANS). Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has sparked a political controversy by linking Christmas celebrations in the state with the sacrifice of Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) president Sonia Gandhi, drawing strong criticism from the BJP. Addressing the Christmas program organized by the government at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, Revanth Reddy said that if people are celebrating Christmas in Telangana today, it is because of the important role and sacrifice of Sonia Gandhi. Referring to both Sonia Gandhi’s birthday and the month of the state’s foundation, he said the month of December holds special significance for Telangana. Bharatiya Janata Party reacted sharply to this statement of CM Reddy. The BJP accused the chief minister of making unfair comparisons and politicizing a religious festival. BJP national spokesperson RP Singh, while talking to news agency IANS, said that Sonia Gandhi has never shown faith in Hindu beliefs. She practices the religion of her birth, Christianity. Many people have pointed out that when she was in power, Christmas was celebrated at her Janpath residence, but not Diwali. Everyone has the right to follow their own beliefs, but the head of state’s comments on this are not appropriate. At the same time, BJP leader Raj Purohit termed Revanth Reddy’s statement as madness and irresponsible. He said, are they comparing the sacrifices of Jesus with the sacrifices of Sonia Gandhi? Is marriage a sacrifice in India? Is this the sacrifice? It cannot be called a sacrifice, therefore the Chief Minister should speak with restraint and responsibility. BJP leader Vikram Randhawa condemned the remarks of the chief minister and accused him of insulting Christianity for political gain. Speaking to IANS, Randhawa said it was condemnable that someone could stoop so low for politics and even use something as important as an international festival for personal gain. I believe it should be condemned worldwide. It is wrong to use the sentiments of the entire community for personal political gain. Earlier, the Telangana unit of BJP also reacted sharply, terming the chief minister’s comments as flattering and mocking Sonia Gandhi’s claim of linking Christmas celebrations. –IANS MS/DKP Share this story Tags

Prime Minister Modi’s two-day Assam tour ends, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma bids farewell

Prime Minister Modi’s two-day Assam tour ends, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma bids farewell

Guwahati, December 21 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Assam ended on Sunday. For this, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma bid a heartfelt farewell to the Prime Minister. Assam Chief Minister’s Office said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a warm farewell by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the end of his two-day visit to Assam. On behalf of the public, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his guidance, support and unwavering commitment to the development of the state. The people of Assam are eagerly waiting for his next visit. Earlier, while addressing a public meeting in Dibrugarh, PM Modi said that there was a time when the fertilizers produced here (Assam) provided power to the countries of Northeast. Farmers’ crops were supported. When the supply of fertilizers became a challenge in many parts of the country, Namrup remained a hope for the farmers, but the technology of the old factories became obsolete with time and the Congress governments paid no attention. The result was that many units of the plant were closed for this reason. The farmers of the entire North East continued to be upset, the farmers of the country also suffered, but the Congress people did not find any solution to this problem, they remained in their fun. Today, our dual-car government is solving the problems created by Congress. He said that the Congress was still pushing anti-national thinking. These people want to settle the Bangladeshi infiltrators in the forests and land of Assam, which will strengthen their vote bank. They don’t care if you get ruined, that’s why they like Bangladeshi infiltrators better. He said that the infiltrators were established by the Congress and that the Congress itself was protecting them, and therefore the Congress party was against purging the electoral roll. We have to save Assam from this congress poison of appeasement and vote bank. I guarantee you that BJP stands with you like steel to protect the identity of Assam and the honor of Assam. He said that today from seed to market… BJP government stands with the farmers. Money is transferred directly into the account for farm work, so that the farmer does not have to wander for a loan. Till now about Rs 4 lakh crore has been sent to the accounts of farmers under Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi. This year, two new schemes worth Rs 35 thousand crore have been started to help the farmers, which include PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana and Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. This will promote farming. We work to keep every need of the farmers in mind. –IANS MS/DKP Share this story Tags
