Epstein Files: Trump Photo Reuploaded Amid Outrage; DOJ explains reason for removal – what it said

The image, which shows a printed photograph of Donald Trump in Jeffrey Epstein’s possession, was initially uploaded as part of the thousands of files released by the DOJ on Friday, but was immediately taken down, sparking fierce online criticism of a “cover-up”. An image showing printed photos found in convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s possession, including one showing Donald Trump (below left).(X/@OversightDems) Under heavy fire over an alleged ‘cover-up’ of files linked to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) on Sunday found a photo of Donald Trump’s possessions, re-uploading the defaced possession. The DOJ said in a social media post that the photo was pulled from the site out of an “out of caution,” adding that it was re-uploaded after a review found it contained no evidence of Epstein victims depicted in the photo. “The Southern District of New York has flagged an image of President Trump for possible further action to protect victims,” the US Department of Justice said. “Out of an abundance of caution, the Department of Justice has temporarily removed the image pending further review. After the review, it was determined there was no evidence that any Epstein victims were depicted in the photo, and it was reposted without any change or redaction,” it added. However, netizens were not amused. “Sorry we got caught,” one user wrote on X, while another added: “The taxpayers who pay your salaries demand complete transparency from our government. The more you try to hide the perpetrators of these heinous acts, the more you expose your bias. Justice is meant to be blind, not partisan.” Another user wrote: “I don’t know what’s more worrying, that attempt at corruption, or the incompetence to carry it out.” The image in question shows a desk with printed photographs recovered from Epstein’s possession. Among the printed photos was one that showed the current US president and Melania Trump with the disgraced financier and Ghislaine Maxwell. An Alleged Cover-Up The image was initially uploaded as part of the thousands of files released by the DOJ on Friday, but was immediately removed, sparking fierce online criticism of a ‘cover-up’. Even as netizens raged over the removal of the photo—file 468 of the latest release—Democrats on the House Oversight Committee joined the chorus, asking Attorney General Pam Bondi, “What else is being covered up? We need transparency for the American public.” However, the removal of the Trump photo was not the only point of contention, with reports over the weekend claiming that as many as 15 to 16 files were pulled from the DOJ website shortly after the latest release of the Epstein files. As pressure mounted on the DOJ, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the department on Sunday, saying the removals had nothing to do with Trump and were carried out to protect the identities of Epstein’s victims at the behest of victim advocacy groups. “You can see in that photo there are photos of women. And so we learned after we released that photo that there was concern about those women and the fact that we put that photo up. So we took that photo down. It has nothing to do with President Trump,” Blanche, who has become the DOJ’s face for questions about the Epstein files, told NBC on Sunday during his “Meet the Press” program. However, it wasn’t just the removal of this one photo that sparked the ire of Americans: The newly released batch of Epstein files have been heavily redacted, including one fully redacted 119-page Grand Jury document, which critics say goes against the nature of full disclosure mandated by the recently passed Epstein Files Transparency Act. “Most transparent administrator in history? These editorials are an absolute mockery of the survivors of Epstein’s abuse and the American people,” wrote Pennsylvania representative Summer Lee, echoing the sentiments of many. In response, the DOJ on Sunday also released a version of the previously censored 119-page Grand Jury document with “minor redactions,” saying, “Documents and photos will continue to be reviewed in accordance with the law and with an abundance of caution for victims and their families.” Get latest real-time updates Stay updated with latest trends, India, world and US news. Starmer and Trump Discuss Ukraine, Gaza and the new British ambassador, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and US President Donald Trump discussed Ukraine and Gaza in a pre-Christmas phone call on Sunday, according to a statement released by Downing Street in London. Starmer also updated Trump on the selection of a new British ambassador to Washington after Peter Mandelson was fired in September over his relationship with late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The appointment of career diplomat Christian Turner “will further deepen the relationship between the two countries,” Starmer told Trump, according to a readout of the call. Turner will take over from James Roscoe, who filled the role on an interim basis. His nearly 30 years of public service include previous experience in Washington. He was first secretary in the embassy from 2002 to 2006 under ambassadors Christopher Meyer and David Manning in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US when George W. Bush was president. Starmer’s efforts to keep Trump close are being tested by tariffs on British steel, a stalled deal on technology cooperation and Trump’s decision to close the British Broadcasting Corp. to sue for at least $10 billion over misleading editing in a documentary last year. The BBC has apologized but says it plans to fight the case. Starmer and Trump began their call on Sunday by reflecting on the war in Ukraine, according to the Downing Street readout. Starmer “updated on work by the Coalition of the Willing to support any peace agreement and ensure a just and lasting end to hostilities,” a spokesman said. “Turning to the Middle East, the leaders discussed the situation on the ground in Gaza.” “The leaders wished each other a Merry Christmas and looked forward to speaking again soon.” ©2025 Bloomberg LP This article was generated from an automated news agency feed with no text modifications.

‘Honored to be here’: Nicki Minaj joins Erika Kirk at Turning Point USA’s AmFest, praises Trump and Vance

Rapper Nicki Minaj made a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s annual AmericaFest conference, or AmFest conference, on Sunday, joining the organization’s new leader, Erika Kirk, for a wide-ranging question-and-answer session that drew significant attention from conservative activists and the media. Nicki Minaj joins Erika Kirk at Turning Point USA’s latest event for a Q&A Kirk, who assumed the role of Chairman and CEO of Turning Point USA earlier this year following the death of her husband, Charlie Kirk, welcomed Minaj to the stage, setting the tone for what became one of the most talked-about moments at the four-day event. “I’m honored to be here. I’m honored to be here,” Minaj told the audience after Kirk introduced her. During the session, Minaj spoke positively of both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, describing them as leaders with an “incredible” ability to connect with Americans. “I love both of them,” she said, marking a notable shift in her public political stance. “This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud of them. Our vice president, he makes me … well, I love both of them,” Minaj said. “Both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone you relate to.” Kirk thanked Minaj for being “courageous” despite the backlash she is receiving from the entertainment industry for voicing support for Trump. “I didn’t notice,” Minaj said. “We don’t even think about them.” Kirk then said, “We don’t have time for that. We’re too busy building, right?” “We’re the cool kids,” Minaj said. Minaj’s appearance came amid growing speculation that she would attend the convention, but the announcement was only confirmed when she took the stage. The rapper has shown increased support for conservative figures in recent months, including bracing posts from Trump’s social media platform highlighting global issues such as the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. On November 1, Minaj shared a screenshot of a Trump Truth Social post about the situation in Nigeria, writing that she felt “a deep sense of gratitude” that Americans can freely practice their religion. “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion (sic),” she wrote. Minaj also wrote that “we don’t have to share the same beliefs for us to respect each other (sic),” highlighting the broader global context of religious violence. Her participation in AmericaFest represents a striking intersection between mainstream entertainment and conservative political activism. It also highlights the continued diversification of public figures involved in Turning Point USA, the youth-oriented organization founded in 2012 to promote conservative values across college campuses and beyond. Erika Kirk and the Legacy of Charlie Kirk Erika Kirk assumed leadership of Turning Point USA in the wake of a profound personal tragedy. Her husband, Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed on September 10, 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The 31-year-old co-founder and then-CEO of Turning Point USA was fatally wounded during an event on the organization’s nationwide tour. Authorities have charged a suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, with aggravated murder and related offenses in connection with the shooting. Erika Kirk spoke publicly about her husband’s impact and vowed to continue the mission he championed. In remarks to supporters at AmericaFest and other venues, she cited his role as a coalition builder and peacemaker, and emphasized the importance of maintaining Turning Point USA’s momentum amid ongoing political divisions. In addition to her leadership responsibilities, she continued with key endorsements, including supporting Vice President JD Vance for the 2028 US presidential election. Her support for Vance, who has close ties to the Kirk family and the broader conservative movement, was a central theme during the conference’s opening sessions. Nicki Minaj: Recent Career and Public Profile On the work front, Nicki Minaj remains one of the most prominent figures in contemporary music, known for her dynamic flow, provocative lyrics and influence on the rap and pop genres. She rose to fame in the late 2000s, gaining widespread recognition with hits such as ‘Super Bass’, ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Starships’, and has been credited with helping to shape the sound of mainstream hip-hop and chart pop. Her albums, including Pink Friday and Queen, achieved commercial success and critical attention. In recent years, Minaj has also expanded into television and fashion ventures, and she has maintained a strong social media presence that continues to engage millions of followers worldwide. Her evolving political commentary and public endorsements have sparked debate across the cultural and political spectrum, underscoring her continued relevance beyond music.

As MEA dismisses alleged wrongdoing at Bangladesh High Commissioner as ‘propaganda’, Dhaka says incident ‘highly regrettable’

The exchange of words between the MEA and Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes on the back of growing concern over violence against minorities in Bangladesh and the brutal lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh. Delhi Police officers stand guard outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Sunday, December 21, 2025.(X/@ANI) Hours after India dismissed what it called “misleading propaganda” over an alleged security breach at the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, Bangladesh issued a statement calling the incident “highly regrettable”. In its statement, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The unjustifiable incident at the Bangladesh High Commissioner’s residence in New Delhi on December 20, 2025 is highly regrettable and cannot be accepted as ‘misleading propaganda’.” “The miscreants were allowed to carry out their activities right outside the perimeter of the High Commissioner, which caused panic among the staff inside the complex,” the statement said, adding that the High Commissioner was not informed in advance about the “organized event”. The ‘event’ in question took place outside the Bangladesh High Commission in India’s national capital on December 20 when 20-25 youths gathered in front of the property and raised slogans against the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh. As news spread in Bangladesh about an attempted security breach at the High Commission, India on Sunday dismissed the reports as “misleading propaganda in sections of the Bangladeshi media”. “There was no attempt at any time to breach the fence or create a security situation,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. “Police stationed at the spot dispersed the group after a few minutes. Visual evidence of these events is publicly available for all to see,” Jaiswal further said, adding that India is committed to ensuring the security of all foreign missions in its territory as per the provisions of the Vienna Convention. Flashpoint over violence against minorities The exchange between the MEA and Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes on the back of growing concerns about violence against minorities in Bangladesh. Over the past few years, India has noted incidents of violence against minorities in Bangladesh, and despite assurances from Dhaka, violence has continued. The most recent incident took place on Thursday evening when a young Hindu man named Dipu Chandra Das was lynched in Mymensingh, about 120 km from the capital, Dhaka. BBC Bangla reported that the 25-year-old garment factory worker was beaten to death by an angry mob who accused him of blasphemy. After killing Dipu, the mob then burnt his lifeless body, videos of which went viral on social media, provoking widespread condemnation. The MEA also condemned the killing in strong terms, describing it as “heinous” and “barbaric” and called on the Muhammad Yunus-led government to bring the perpetrators to justice. The MEA also said it had raised “strong concern” with the Bangladesh government over repeated attacks on minorities. Dipu Chandra Das’ lynching comes amid violent protests in Bangladesh, fueled by the death of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi, who recently succumbed to his injuries in Singapore after being shot by bike-borne assailants during an election campaign in Bangladesh. “struggle against Indian hegemony”. Epstein files: Removals have ‘nothing to do’ with Trump, Todd Blanche says, as dozens of photos disappear from DOJ website

Multiple media outlets reported over the weekend that about 15 to 16 photos initially uploaded Friday as part of the Epstein files release had been deleted by the DOJ, fueling speculation of a cover-up to protect President Donald Trump. This redacted photo released by the U.S. Department of Justice shows files documented on Aug. 12, 2019, during a search of Jeffrey Epstein’s home on Little St. James Island in the US Virgin Islands. (AP) A day after reports claimed that more than a dozen files related to disgraced financier and convicted pedophile Jeffed’Epstein had ‘vanished’ from the US Department’s website. Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the move to take down the photos. Several media outlets, including the New York Post, reported over the weekend that approximately 15 to 16 photos initially uploaded on Friday had been deleted by the DOJ. Reports also claimed that one of the deleted photos – ‘file 468’ – showed an open drawer with a printed photo of President Donald Trump, sparking speculation that the DOJ was covering up evidence and trying to protect POTUS. However, Blanche dismissed the speculation on Sunday, admitting that some photos were indeed removed and explaining the reason behind the removals. ‘Nothing to do with Trump’ In an interview with NBC for its ‘Meet the Press’ program, Blanche said Sunday that photos, including one showing President Donald Trump, had been removed but at the behest of victim advocacy groups to protect people’s identities. “You can see in that photo there are photos of women. And so we learned after the release of that photo that there was concern about those women and the fact that we put that photo up. So we took that photo down. It has nothing to do with President Trump,” Blanche told NBC. Blanche’s comments are the latest in the saga involving the Epstein files, whose release was ordered by Congress after a bipartisan effort to release the material overcame Trump’s own objections to it. DOJ faces harsh criticism As part of the release mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the DOJ on Friday released thousands of pages of records, including flight logs, grand jury transcripts and contact lists, as well as never-before-seen photos found in Epstein’s possession. In Friday’s release, several figures associated with Epstein were seen in the photos or mentioned in the files, including former President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew (now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor), as well as celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Kevin Spacey, Richard Branson among others. Trump, meanwhile, was seen in a printed photo showing him, Melania Trump, Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. Another heavily edited photo shows Epstein holding a $22,500 novelty check with Trump’s signature. Hours, after the release of the files, 15 to 16 specific files (including the photo of Trump) reportedly disappeared from the DOJ website, leading critics to question the timing. Critics have pointed out that heavy redactions — one 119-page document labeled ‘Grand Jury-NY’ was completely redacted — run counter to the nature of full disclosure required by the aforementioned transparency law. The DOJ, for its part, responded to the wave of harsh criticism by saying, “Photos and other materials will continue to be reviewed and redacted in accordance with the law in an abundance of caution as we receive additional information.” However, a day later, on Sunday, the DOJ released the Grand Jury document with “minimal redactions.” When a journalist pointed out that the DOJ had redacted a document that had been uploaded with minor redactions in January 2024 (and was still available on the website), the department washed its hands. “Redactions were applied to those documents when they were filed in the respective court cases at the time. We reproduced the documents as we had them in our possession,” the DOJ said. Get latest real-time updates Stay updated with latest trends, India, world and US news.
