New York, December 21 (IANS). Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder and spiritual guru of Art of Living, said on Sunday that meditation offers a proven solution to the growing mental health challenges facing societies around the world. He emphasized that meditation, inner peace and better communication are essential to resolve personal crises and global conflicts. “Today the whole world is facing many challenges, and mental health is a serious challenge among them,” Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said while talking to IANS. “So the solution to mental health challenges lies in meditation,” he said after a meditation session organized on the occasion of World Meditation Day in New York City. He pointed to increasing anxiety, loneliness and various social pressures in modern societies. “Anxiety, loneliness and many other social challenges face our society today,” he said. He went on to say, “Meditation has undoubtedly proven to be the solution to all of this.” “We need to empower women. We need to empower the poor sections of our society,” he said. He emphasized the role of values in shaping the future and said that “it is necessary to instill compassion, commitment and life context.” Addressing the ongoing conflicts around the world, the spiritual leader said that wars and conflicts do not originate in battlefields but in the human mind. “Conflicts arise in people’s minds, in people’s minds,” he said. According to him, when decision-makers remain calm and clear, the paths to peace become visible. He warned that breakdowns in dialogue often lead directly to violence. “When communication breaks down, that’s when conflicts start,” he said. –IANS MS/ Share this story Tags
