And that is why the hose is equipped with a breakaway valve. The valve separates and the remaining hose seals shut. Pump doesn’t go BOOM!
this is why it is illegal to pump your own gas in NJ. no idiots driving away with the pump here
Having worked as a pump attendent for a few years during high school and having that happen to me a few times, I now ALWAYS check through my mirrors if the nozzle is still attached or not.
