  1. Content posted to /r/nextfuckinglevel should represent something impressive, be it an action, an object, a skill, a moment, a fact that is above all others. Posts should be able to elicit a reaction of “that is next level” from viewers. Avoid engaging in uncivil behavior in the comment section debating what is or isn’t NFL.

  2. If this is real, that’s a stand up dude right there. I dunno if I could manage such a demeanor were I in the same situation. Better man than I.

  3. “why am I doing this? So I can post on social media and get likes to fill the gaping hole in my soul that craves love and attention….. Oh and something to do with my kids or whatever, idk”

  4. Sorry, can’t agree. Pretending that everything is basically as it was before is not helpful and confuses kids even more. Be straight forward, there is no “daddy is making breakfast for mommy” anymore, dont fool them.

And i have been in the same situation on both sides: kid and husband/boyfriend.

Be honest to your kids and they will get used to the situation.

If you want to be a role model, there are many ways to do so, including teaching respect towards women.

  5. I’m a cashier at a place with a completely random inventory, and I have a divorced couple that comes in with their son. They’re divorced for a reason, but they absolutely do not bring their son into it. They *shop together regularly and get along well* for that child…My parents haven’t spoken in 17 years, even while some of us were hospitalized.

If they come in alone, they sometimes buy each other’s groceries and drop it off at each other’s houses.

I respect the hell out of this. It’s not their kid’s fault they didn’t love each other after all. They want their kid to see what respect looks like, and that you can be nice, even if you don’t love the person you’re being nice to.

  6. the message is solid, but…

why do people posture like this on the internet for self validation. as if they’re saints their whole lives. “here i did a thing. now everyone look how good i am”

  7. Yah, but he ain’t her husband anymore. He is teaching his sons to be servile to someone who, for some reason, is no longer his spouse. Either he messed up or she did.

    Either way, this ain’t good.

  8. This is so dumb and annoying to me.
Just sounds like something a philosophy professor would post after he banged one of his students, got caught and lost his wife and kids.

  9. The someone who asked him why the hell he does that was the wife’s new boyfriend, the reason he has to explain it every time is because it’s a different dude every time. This guy is a simp, you want to let your kids buy your ex a present, that’s cool I guess, but this example this guy is setting pretty cringe, even when she leaves you do all you can for a woman.

Edit: For the people butthurt, imagine a woman going to her ex-husbands home on his birthday and doing these things for him, and telling people she’s teaching her daughters how to be proper women, you’d all lose your shit. Divorced parents can be civil, but doing nice shit like that ends when a relationship does.

  10. My mother and father have been separated for 15 years they still talk on the phone everyday and call eachother on holidays. Sometimes you just find you’re better friends than partners and that’s ok.

  11. Right after I was divorced we tried doing holidays together. It caused my kids to be confused and they were under the impression that we would get back together even though I told them that wasn’t a possibility. Once I started dating the women that is now my fiancé I realized that she needs to be my primary and I have to respect boundaries that she has set or the relationship wouldn’t work. I effectively co-parent with my ex. We both work to to support my sons, discuss things that impact their lives, reach a consensus when it involves them. Do I buy her presents and make her breakfast, no. My sons have an allowance and with that money they buy her things on holidays, birthdays, etc.

  12. This a bunch of bullshit. You can be a decent person to your ex-wife/mother of your kids without doing weird shit like this that just sends the wrong message about how relationships work.

How much you wanna bet this isn’t even a reciprocal thing? It certainly wasn’t mentioned that it is.

  13. We completely forget that everything we do our kids are observing and absorbing like a sponge.

I get why people forget or become complacent but we need to remind ourselves on a daily basis that the kids are always watching.

  14. THIS! Can’t tell you how many shit friends I had who treated woman very poorly. It all makes sense when I understand their parent dynamics. More often than not they came from a divorced family

  15. my parents are divorced but still get along as friends and help eachother out where needed. has 100% allowed me to see the functions of a healthy parental relationship without them even living in the same house. this is so important and props to him

  16. This dude’s still got it for her. I don’t wish any ill will toward my ex-wife, but I’ll be goddamned if I’m gonna spend any more time on a lost cause. You can be respectful, tactful, and cordial without kissing anybody’s ass.

  17. It’s kind of silly to go bragging about something you SHOULD be doing anyway. Real men do this and then go don’t go bragging on the internet looking for likes and praise.
