Patna, December 21 (IANS). Union minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) founder Jitan Ram Manjhi publicly demanded a Rajya Sabha seat for his party on Sunday. He told BJP that if their demands are not met, ‘we’ are ready to break the alliance. Addressing a party program in Bihar’s Gayaji, Manjhi spoke directly to his son and HAM national president Santosh Kumar Suman and urged him to be prepared for political battle. He told the stage not to be disappointed, Santosh. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s father was a farmer and today your father is a Union Minister. Be ready to fight. Now be ready to raise slogans of Inquilab Zindabad. Manjhi alleged that BJP had promised Rajya Sabha seats during the Lok Sabha elections but has yet to fulfill that promise. He said that Rajya Sabha elections are due in the coming months and warned that ‘Hum’ will reconsider the party alliance if it does not get the seat again. He announced that if we do not get a Rajya Sabha seat this time, I am ready to resign from the post of minister and take another path. Manjhi said that ‘Hum’ was cheated in both the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections and was constantly underestimated. He said that you made a mistake by underestimating us. If this mistake is repeated, we are ready to contest the elections alone. Emphasizing the need for organizational unity, he said what will happen if the BJP gives only five seats? You should be ready to contest elections on 100 seats. If we get 6 percent votes or even 10-15 seats, the party will get recognition. –IANS MS/DKP Share this story Tags
