The Congress has targeted the Pinarayi Vijayan government over the brutal lynching of Ramnarayan Baghel, a migrant worker from Chhattisgarh, by a mob in Palakkad, Kerala, mistaking him for a ‘Bangladeshi citizen’. The party demands immediate action against all those involved in this heinous crime and adequate compensation to the victim’s family. The victim’s family has also demanded compensation and investigation under stringent laws including the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The Congress also demanded that the state government make proper arrangements to transport Ramnarayan’s mortal remains to his native town in a dignified manner.
