Govt can**t end power outages by 2018, says Khursheed

SUKKUR: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said the government would **t be able to end loadshedding till 2018. He was talking to the media here on Sunday. He said Abdus Sattar Edhi was a great personality, who would never be forgotten. He said Edhi had served the mankind beyond any discrimination. He said millions of people today have been deprived of the sincere services of Edhi. He said many others, by seeing the humanitarian-based service of Abdus Sattar Edhi, were also pursuing his mission. He had saved the lives of thousands of people, Khursheed Shah said.



PTI activists join ANP

**WSHERA: Activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) here on Sunday joined the Awami National Party (ANP).General councillors Umraiz and other elected members of the district government Zahoor, Inayat Nabi and Ilyas Khan and their supporters in Daag Ismailkhel joined the ANP. ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the ANP leader said that Pakhtuns had been suffering due to the ‘dollar game’ in the region which started with the invasion of Afghanistan by the **w defunct Soviet Union. He said that pro-extremist elements were empowered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the ANP was kept out of the lawmaking process. The ANP leader believed the Pakhtuns were regretting for having voted the PTI to power which, he said, failed to bring about any change in the province.



JI activists concerned at corruption in schemes

KARAK: The Jamaat-r-Islami (JI) Youth Wing has expressed concern over alleged corruption in uplift schemes in the district and decided to launch a protest campaign against it. The an**uncement was made by the JI Karak Youth Wing general secretary Gul Zeb Khattak and others at a press conference on Saturday. They voiced concern over the alleged substandard material being used in the road projects from the Jail Chowk to Baz Muhammad Khattak Chowk and from district courts to Rehmatabad area. They stated that the projects were **t up to the mark and substandard material was being used and resultantly the projects would soon be in tatters after completion.



Woman dies in bid to reconcile warring brothers

OKARA: A woman was killed while trying to resolve a dispute between her two brothers in Satghara. Asghar and Muhammad Hussain were quarrelling with each other over some domestic dispute when their sister Khalida Bibi intervened and tried to resolve the issue. In the meantime, Asghar allegedly attacked his brother with an axe but it hit Khalida, killing her on the spot. The Satghara police have registered a case.



Woman, son killed in bike-car collision

PAKPATTAN: A woman and her son were killed while a**ther injured in an accident near Adda Muhammad Nagar on the Burewala-Arifwala Road. Abdul Majeed Bhatti of Chak Saleem, his wife Nadia and four-year-old son Muhammad Arslan were on their way when a car collided with their motorcycle. As a result, Nadia and her son Arslan were killed on the spot while Abdul Majeed was seriously injured. He was shifted to the Sahiwal DHQ Hospital in critical condition.



Lightning kills woman in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: A woman was killed and three other members of her family sustained injuries after being hit by lightning followed by a windstorm on Saturday evening. The upper parts of Mansehra, Torghar and Kohistan districts witnessed heavy windstorm and rains. Aisha Iqbal was killed and her two brothers sustained wounds when lighting stuck a house in the Timbree area of Shinkiari in Mansehra. The rainwater flooded the streets, roads and houses in Channia and other parts of district.



Edhi’s death condoled

OKARA: Citizens have condoled the passing away of Abdus Sattar Edhi and termed his death a big loss for the country. The people offered fateha for his departed soul and expressed their feelings of sorrow recalling his indiscriminate services for humanity. Funeral prayer in absentia was arranged by the Rescue-1122 officials and a large number of people including District Coordination ******r Sucrat Aman Rana, District Police ******r Muhammad Faisal Rana, Edhi Foundation’s Chaudhry Fayyaz Zafar and Chaudhry Habibul Haq attended it.



Two sisters drown in canal

DASKA: Two sisters drowned in the BRB Canal here on Sunday. Naveed, his wife Shazia and sisters-in-law Sonia and Mafi were taking a dip in the canal when they went into deep water. As a result, Sonia and Mafi drowned while Naveed and his wife were rescued by the people.



Two brothers die in accident

TOBA TEK SINGH: Two brothers were killed in a road accident near Kamalia on Saturday. Shan Ali and Muhammad Irfan of Kamalia were riding a motorcycle when a van hit them on Kamalia-Chichawatni Road, leaving them dead on the spot.



Widow raped in Pakpattan

PAKPATTAN: A widow was raped in Chak Bali Kalan. Sakeena was sleeping on the roof of her house when Ashraf came there and allegedly raped her. The accused also snatched a gold ring from her. Police have registered a case. —Correspondent
