Iraqi forces, militias enter besieged **rthern town -officials
Iraqi security forces backed by Shi'ite militias entered on Sunday the **rthern town of Amerli, which had been besieged by the Islamic State for around two months, officials said. The mayor of Amerli and army ******rs said troops backed by militias defeated fighters from the Islamic State to the east of the town.
