The committee in the Labor Ministry for settling labor disputes has fined Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) SR35 million for increasing the daily work hours by an hour for its employees at the cargo section. The committee canceled Saudia's decision increasing the working hours and said this extra hour the cargo staff had worked should be considered overtime, for which the staff should be compensated. The committee made its decision in the presence of advisers from the Labor Ministry and a judge representing the Justice Ministry. Lauai Banawi, a cargo employee, filed a complaint with the Labor Ministry against Saudia for its decision to make him work an extra hour without compensation and asked the ministry to nullify the decision.
