Director of Liverpool-set film Kelly + Victor celebrating after BAFTA success
</p>The Director of a Liverpool-based film is celebrating BAFTA success. Kieran Evans won the award for outstanding British debut by a British writer, Director or producer for film Kelly + Victor – set in Toxteth . The film, based on a novel by Liverpool-born author Niall Griffiths, was filmed in locations around the city including Sefton Park, Exchange Flags, Birkenhead Docks, Everton and the Molyneux pub in Kensington. The BAFTA was presented by comic and actor Steve Coogan at Sunday night’s event at Londonâ??s Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Stars including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Prince William and Dame Helen Mirren turned out for the annual awards ceremony, presented by Stephen Fry. Liverpool-born actor David Morrissey was also among the celebrities on the red carpet. Slavery drama 12 Years A Slave was named best film and its star Chiwetel Ejiofor won the leading actor award. Cate Blanchett was named best actress for her role in the Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine. She dedicated her win to the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman who was found dead in his New York apartment earlier this year.
