KARACHI: A Banker has been arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the complaint of two elderly sisters, who claimed that their signatures were forged for withdrawing Rs28.2 million from their accounts.The FIA Sindh spokesman said the agency’s Commercial Banking Circle (CBC) in Karachi arrested the suspect after the FIA director general ordered an investigation into withdrawals from unsuspecting customers’ accounts by fraudsters with the connivance of commercial banks’ officials by forging their signatures and falsifying their records.Muhammad Waqas Khan, operations manager for the Shaheed-e-Millat Road branch of a bank, was arrested and FIR No. 18/2019 registered against him at the CBC.Elderly sisters Saeeda Samdani and Zebunnisa Ghaffar had complained about the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs28.2 million from their accounts by forging their signatures on the cheques and falsifying their bank records.The investigation of the case was conducted under the supervision of the CBC Karachi additional director. The investigating officer succeeded in recovering the entire sum of Rs28.2 million from the suspect.
