Patrick Ewing Grillo?s Pickles Sneaker
Long live the food-inspired sneaker. Last week, Saucony released its avocado toast-inspired sneaker, but the food market isn’t so small that it’s limited to one brand. This week, Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing and his team at Ewing Athletics partnered with Grillo’s Pickles to produce something truly magnificent—a pickle sneaker, appropriately titled “The Pickle.”
SHOP THE PICKLE Listen. I’m not a Sneaker expert—I leave that for the people in the room who can talk about silhouettes and design innovation. What I can talk to you about is how this beautiful chunky boy is, handsomely designed with the ideal (yes, ideal) of the pickle in mind. The best snack out there inspired these $140 beauties, which have a perfect green suede and faux-wood aesthetic to match, well, pickles. If you’ll allow me to mix senses, the visual lends itself to a nice dill flavor, with hints of garlic and salt to echo the secondary off-white tones. A little fun fact: The pickle company’s founder, Travis Grillo, missed out on an opportunity to be a Sneaker designer at Nike. A decade later, he’s designing his own damn Sneaker with Ewing Athletics because if you have a dream, you follow through. The sneaker, released yesterday, ranges from size 5 to 14. The design features Sam the Pickle man on the back of the shoe, as well as on the sole. Embrace the goodness that is the pickle, and by God, if you’re a big enough fan, embrace them enough to wear them on your feet. </p> Source link More
