ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically rejected as baseless the Indian allegations that came 24 hours after the visit of the wife and mother of Indian Navy's Commander Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav, a convicted terrorist and a RAW spy who has confessed to his crimes.
?We do not wish to indulge in a meaningless battle of words. Our openness and transparency belies these allegations,? a statement by the Foreign Office said on Wednesday. The statement pointed out that if the Indian concerns are serious, the guests or the Indian deputy high commissioner should have raised them during the visit with the media which was readily available at a safe distance, as requested by India. ?The fact is that Jadhav?s mother publicly thanked Pakistan for its humanitarian gesture. This was recorded by the media. Nothing more needs to be said,? the Foreign Office said.
The spokesman for FO said a chip was found installed in her shoes and they had to be removed. It said that she was provided with another pair of shoes and all her belongings except the shoes had been returned. He said the shoes have been sent for laboratory examination.
Earlier, India said Pakistan harassed the spy?s wife and mother during their visit. Among other things, the Indian government accused the Pakistani authorities of refusing to return the shoes of the wife of Jadhav after she turned them over to security. "The Pakistani press was allowed on multiple occasions to approach the family members closely, harass and hector them and hurl false and loaded accusations about (Shri) Jadhav," India said in a statement
Jadhav, a former officer in the Indian Navy, was arrested in March 2016 from Balochistan. His wife and mother were allowed to see him on Monday, eight months after he was sentenced to death.
