Corruption growing in judiciary: Justice Siddiqui
ISLAMABAD: Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has said that Corruption is growing in the judiciary and ?we are not ready to do some soul searching?.
Speaking at a ceremony of District Bar Association, he told the lawyers that it is their judiciary and he is the first to fight for rights of the lawyers. He lamented that some of the lawyers were not well versed with Urdu and laws of the land. He said instead of hatred, they should have love and harmony. He said he is hurt when lawyers are called a mob. He said before him are examples of excellent lawyers like Quaid-i-Azam and those who have given sacrifices for the sake of justice. He cited a Hadith which gives the message that one should not spoil his afterlife for worldly gains of somebody else. He said IHC is an asset developed by all of them together. He said judges shoulder responsibility to dispense justice. He said it is time for bar elections but he is not there on any agenda. He said bar presidents back corrupt lawyers in some cases. He said the man who gets under pressure has no right to become a judge.He advised the audience to serve their mothers and win prayers of their elders.
