One of the most widespread species of flamingos, greater flamingos have been a major attraction for enthusiastic birdwatchers at Chennai's Pallikaranai marshland since 2008. Flamingos usually migrate in order to avoid predators and maximize food intake. As many as 400 flamingos have arrived so far this year and the numbers are continuously increasing every year.
