افتراضي ECP adjourns cases against Imran,Tareen for indefinite periods

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday adjourned for an indefinite period the hearing into pleas seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jehangir.

The five-member bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, ordered that the case would be heard after the Supreme Court gives its verdict in a similar case.

During the course of hearing, PTI’s counsel Naeem Bukhari had argued that a similar case was being heard by the Supreme Court and requested that the ECP should take its decision once the SC verdict was an**unced.

The Election Commission on May 9 had restored the petition of one Hashim Ali Bhutta, seeking the disqualification of Imran Khan. The petitioner, Bhutta, had said in his plea that Imran Khan did **t mention his Banigala residence and London flats in his assets declaration before the ECP. The petition had also stated that the PTI chief failed to abide by articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution. The ECP had, earlier, dismissed the petition because the petitioner had failed to appear for hearing.
