Says faced it in past and also facing it currently; sees conspiracies against govt LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said some people were hatching conspiracies against his government. “I k**w about the conspiracies against my government but let me tell you our journey to eco**mic progress of the country will continue,” he said, addressing a gathering of the party workers. The prime minister said he would continue serving the masses despite conspiracies against his government, adding that he did **t k**w the agenda of some people. “We have made Pakistan an atomic power and we will **w make it eco**mically strong despite all the conspiracies,” he said. “We are **t afraid of accountability. We have been held accountable in the past too and are currently facing accountability as well,” he said. “A lot of sessions have been held in closed rooms. We are **w before the public,” said the prime minister. He said the journey of progress, prosperity and development under the PML-N government would continue as a large number of power and infrastructure development projects were being completed on fast-track basis. He said the power generation recently touched the historic mark of around 19,000 MW and more electricity would be added in the current year and by the end of next year. Nawaz said numerous power projects would be inaugurated on which an amount of $36 billion was being spent. “These projects are being accomplished in a transparent manner and within the minimum time and cost," he said, adding an amount of Rs112 billion was saved on three 3,600 MW LNG-run projects. Expressing his wonder at the agenda of his political rivals, the prime minister said the Orange Line and Metro Bus were aimed at facilitating the poor. During the PML-N government, the law and order situation in the country had improved whereas the eco**mic indicators were on the surge, he added. Whatever we said, we acted upon with sincerity, and never indulged in politics of falsehood, the prime minister stated. He informed the gathering that earlier in the day, he presided over a meeting related to development projects for Punjab and Lahore. The prime minister lauded Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for completion of development projects throughout the province. Shahbaz had taken keen interest in the development of the province and Lahore, the prime minister said and recalled that he himself also served tirelessly as the Punjab chief minister. Expressing his pleasure over meeting with the party workers, the prime minister said his relation with them was long-lasting, which had grown stronger with the passage of time. He said the PML-N enjoyed the support of sincere people who always kept the country's interests supreme. The prime minister directed the party lawmakers to address the issues faced by the people on their doorstep and said they would be responsible in case of any injustice or insult to the workers. On the other hand, the prime minister said Pakistan was mindful of its responsibilities towards protection of environment. In his message on the World Environment Day, he said, “We have ensured that our industrial, infrastructural and associated developmental initiatives are environment-friendly. “We have made environmental impact studies a mandatory part of all development projects irrespective of their size. We have also recently launched the Green Pakistan Programme across the country in collaboration with the provincial and regional governments, civil society and our international development partners,” he said. “This programme is a comprehensive intervention designed **t just to preserve our environment – including woodlands and wildlife – but is also aimed at raising awareness amongst the masses on the crucial requirement for every Pakistani to contribute towards the national effort,” the prime minister said. In the international domain, Nawaz said, Pakistan had already ratified the Paris Agreement and stood committed to collaborate in global efforts to protect the environment. He stressed the need for a shared duty of each and every Pakistani to care for environment as a sacred trust to be passed onto posterity. أكثر... |
