I want to become PM to strengthen institutions, asserts Imran
 Says waiting for SC verdict in Panama caseISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that he is waiting for the decision of the Supreme Court on Panama Papers case and he wants to become the prime minister to strengthen the institutions of the country. Speaking here at the ‘Leaders in Islamabad Summit’, Imran said the Panama Papers case would prove to be a milestone in the history of the country, which would force the ruling elite to mend its ways. He said the judgement would change the destiny of Pakistan. Responding to a question, Imran said imposition of martial law has become difficult in Pakistan. When asked what he intends to do after coming into power, Imran said he wants to strengthen the institutions of the country after becoming the prime minister. He maintained that peace in Karachi was restored during the tenure of General Raheel Sharif as the army chief, and alleged that Muhammad Zubair was made gover**r Sindh for covering up the corruption of Sharif family and serving them. Imran criticised Pakistan’s decision of joining the Afghan jihad in 1980s, saying joining the fight against the Soviets was a big mistake. “We made a big mistake in the 80s by entering into the jihad against the Soviets. That left Pakistan with militants, militant groups, we had Kalashnikovs and we had ***** which could be used to finance the war,” he **ted. The PTI chief pointed out that prior to joining the war, Pakistan never had sectarian militant groups, which were a result of the Afghan jihad. “Fast forward to a**ther decade later 9/11 happens and we are hunting the same jihadi groups which became terrorists,” he remarked. Imran added that Pakistan took dollars to cultivate militants for the Afghan jihad and then later took dollars to fight against and kill them. The PTI chairman was of the view that people should be rallied around **t to wage a war but for forge peace. About US President Donald Trump, Imran said he was worse than what he had expected. “When Trump got elected and then I saw his team…I thought he is **t as bad as I earlier thought he was, he is worse than that.” Imran said Pakistan was still battling militant outfits that were established during the Afghan war. To a question regarding cricket affairs in Pakistan, he said the prime minister should **t interfere in cricket. Imran claimed that he was the only captain in Pakistan's history who resigned after **t being given cricketers of his choice. He was of the view that an all-rounder should be made captain of a team since captaincy was all about controlling bowlers.
