Mint Oral Health Tracker for Measuring Volatile Sulfur Compounds in Mouth **w Available to Consumers
  Breathometer, a company that became famous on ABC‘s Shark Tank show, is finally releasing its Mint Oral Health tracker. We spoke with a Brethometer*rep last year about the potential for their tech**logy, how it works, and why it was developed. We were intrigued, but it took a few more months than expected for the Mint to finally make it to market and for us to try the device. We were provided with a unit and will have a review of it in a few days here on Medgadget. The Mint is essentially a device for Measuring Volatile Sulfur compounds*(VSCs)*present in the mouth. These tend to be created by biofilms of anaerobic bacteria and can indicate the presence of gum disease and tooth decay. Specifically, it detects hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercapthan, and hydrogen disulfide using an electrochemical fuel sensor and other tech**logy at an accuracy down to parts per billion. These make your breath stink, but one often does **t k**w that without a gentle soul pointing it out. The company expects people to use the Mint to check up on their breath before dates, meetings, and appointments, and to keep an eye on the trend of their overall Oral health. Besides a power button on the actual device, all the controls are found within the accompanying app. The app also keeps a store of all the previously taken readings and lets you see trends over weeks and months.
