Sonakshi Sinha talks about gender roles in cinema
Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who made a successful debut with Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg, has created a strong position in the industry in a rather short span of time. She has worked with some of the biggest names of Bollywood and has won several awards too. The actress is currently busy shooting for her next, **or, which revolves around the story of a Pakistani journalist. In a recent interview, she opened up about some of the downsides of her profession and gender roles in cinema.
“Unfortunately, people who are in the limelight are always being judged,” she maintained. “This is one of the downsides of our profession that as an actress we are constantly being judged. For me, I am somebody who has always been confident in my own skin and **t pay too much attention on what people think about me. If you get into that pressure, you will go mad. It’s better to be yourself, work hard and move ahead,” she asserted. Sinha is one of those actresses who are **t seen in roles that stereotype women and is rather seen in progressive roles. According to latest reports, the actress will be essaying the role of a RAW ******r opposite John Abraham in Force 2. The actress also said that a change has been observed in the kind of roles written for women in the industry. “Wonderful roles are being written keeping women in mind; films are being made with a woman as the protagonist,” she **ted. “The pay disparity is decreasing, they are getting their dues.
