Pakistan asks India to provide evidence of Uri attack
ISLAMABAD: Though **t unexpected yet in a belated move, the Modi government, under great domestic pressure, launched its ‘diplomatic war’ against Pakistan by summoning Pakistan’s High Commissioner Abdul Basit to the ministry of external affairs on Wednesday to express “concern” as well as offering cooperation to Pakistan to mutually investigate the Uri attack, while expecting a ‘response’ from Islamabad. The summoning of Basit came immediately after Modi held his third high-level meeting since the Uri attack, where on Wednesday he presided over the meeting of cabinet committee on security. However, Abdul Basit, categorically denying the Indian allegation, said that Pakistan had **t any role in the Uri sector attack and India should provide evidence. He stated that Pakistan abides by its stance to **t allow the use of its soil against any country. Important is the fact that the bodies of the ‘militants’ are **t in the custody of the Indian Army, who say these bodies lie near Pakistan’s side of the Line of Control (LoC).“The persistent and growing violation of this undertaking is a matter of very serious concern,” Basit was informed.Islamabad, meanwhile, has still **t responded to this “offer”. New Delhi says that militants from Pakistan attacked an army base in **rthern Kashmir which saw 18 Indian soldiers being taken out, which many say was once again a complete intelligence and security failure. Basit was conveyed a strong message that Pakistan should live up to its public commitment to refrain from supporting and sponsoring terrorism against India. Pakistan has denied any hand in this latest attack inside Indian territory. The summoning of Basit comes as Modi conveyed his cabinet committee on security to deliberate on what the Indian media says is “the future course of action and review the security situation along the LoC between India and Pakistan following Sunday’s terrorist attack in Uri.” “If the government of Pakistan wishes to investigate these cross-border attacks, India is ready to provide fingerprints and DNA samples of terrorists killed in Uri and Poonch incidents,” spokesman at the Indian ministry of external affairs said in a statement. “We **w expect a response from the government of Pakistan,” it added. High Commissioner Abdul Basit was summoned by the Indian Foreign Secretary Jaishankar. “It was reminded that government of Pakistan had made a solemn commitment in January 2004 to **t allow its soil or territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India.” In this regard, the Indian spokesman said the latest terrorist attack in Uri only underlines that the infrastructure of terrorism in Pakistan remains active. “We demand that Pakistan lives up to its public commitment to refrain from supporting and sponsoring terrorism against India. This year, beginning with the Pathankot airbase attack, there have been continuous attempts by armed terrorists to cross the LoC and international boundary in order to carry out attacks in India. Seventeen such attempts have been interdicted at or around the LoC, resulting in the elimination of 31 terrorists and preventing their intended acts of terrorism,” the Indian spokesman said in a statement. The Indian foreign secretary also reminded Basit that even as he spoke two engagements at the LoC were ongoing. Basit was handed over a list of what India alleges are a number of items from the Uri attack that include: a. GPS from the bodies of terrorists with coordinates that indicate the point and time of infiltration across the LoC and the subsequent route to the terror attack site; b. Grenades with Pakistani markings; c. Communication matrix sheets; d. Communication equipment; and e. Other stores made in Pakistan, including food, medicines and clothes. Interestingly, according to the Indian media, the Indian army on Wednesday continued combing-cum-search operations in Uri and Naugam sectors along the LoC where the alleged infiltration bids took place. The bodies of the slain terrorists are, however, yet to be recovered. “The bodies of the terrorists are so close to the LoC that army might **t be able to recover them,” an Indian army official told PTI in New Delhi. أكثر... ??????? ??????: Indian external affairs ministry summons Pak HC || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
