NAB makes arrests on basis of liking, disliking: SC

ISLAMABAD: A Supreme Court (SC) judge on Tuesday observed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) made arrests on the basis of liking and disliking.

Azmat Saeed Sheikh made these remarks during the hearing of a bail petition filed by Mahmood Zuberi allegedly involved in a fraud case on private bank loan.A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, conducted the hearing of the bail petition.

During the course of hearing, the counsel for the petitioner informed the apex court that his client Mehmood Zuberi had been in jail for the last 44 months while the real accused, Ikhtair Hussain and Nasir Aziz, were proclaimed offenders and prayed the court to grant bail to the petitioner. The apex court granted bail to the accused against the surety bond of Rs10 million.
