Chandio says ** one is banned from collecting hides
KARACHI: Adviser to the Sindh CM for Information Maula Bakhsh Chandio said on Sunday that it had been decided in the apex committee session held at the end of the last month that whoever would collect animal hides must be made to submit an audit report to the committee. Addressing a press conference here, Chandio said it would be pertinent to mention in the report how the money from animal skins would be utilised. “The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s decision **t to collect animal hides this year is its own,” Chandio said, adding that the Sindh government had ** qualms over the party collecting animal skins. Dr Farooq Sattar had, a day earlier, an**unced that the MQM would **t be collecting animal hides this year, but would play its part in cleaning up the city after Eid. Earlier, significant decisions were taken during the first apex committee, held on August 31, convened under Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The apex committee decided that all the illegal ******s of any political party would be terminated and dozens have since been razed across the city. The committee had also agreed to strictly follow the code of conduct concerning animal hide collection and, as per sources, it was said that ** one would be allowed to forcibly collect hides. Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference at the PPP’s media cell on Sunday, provincial minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, who heads the provincial coordination committee of the party, said Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will an**unce the names of district-level leaders of the party in Sindh after Eidul Azha as all intra-party consultations in this connection have been completed. He said names would be an**unced for slots of president, secretary-general, and secretary Information of the party in every district of the province with the regard to choosing new leadership of PPP. Khuhro said that consultation process for choosing new ******-holders of the party had been completed in all 32 districts of the province. He said the chairman would also decide the method for choosing rest of the ******-bearers of the party in every district of the province. He said the chairman for the first time in history of the party had dissolved the entire organisational structure of the party and solicited opinion from cadres of the party in the entire country for holding the intraparty elections. For this purpose, the consultation process in Sindh started from Thatta on May 14 and completed the previous day by doing the round of consultation among members of the party in district Malir. Khuhro said that recommendations had been sent to the party leadership for three main ******s of the party in every district (president, secretary- general, and secretary Information) after consultations with workers of the party in each of the district in the province. He said the selected names for three main ******s of the party in every district would be formally presented to the chairman in a meeting held after Eidul Azha. Afterwards, the party’s chairman will make final an**uncement in this regard. Khuhro said that he had surveyed party activists in every district for soliciting their opinion and as such there was ** controversy or dispute among cadres of the party for selecting the new district level leadership. He said that any allegations or rumours regarding differences over selection of new district leadership of the party should be considered invalid and unfounded. Also speaking on the occasion, provincial information adviser Moula Bakhsh Chandio, who is also one of the members of the PPP’s provincial coordination committee, said in every district thousands of activists of the party took part in the consultation drive for choosing new leadership of the party and as such they totally disregarded harshness of weather and similar such discouraging factors while taking part in the drive to select new ******-holders for the party. He said the overwhelming response shown by activists of the party to take part in the consultation drive had completely negated all such theories that there was any threat against survival and existence of PPP in Sindh. He said that very soon fresh leadership team of People’s Party would be in place and start working to further the fight of the party against anti-democratic forces. Khuhro also an**unced on the occasion that activists of the party could send their biodata to fax number 021- 99212098 in case they wished to take part in the reorganization drive of PPP. On the recently held byelection in Karachi for the constituency PS-127, Khuhro said that law-enforcement agencies had done their best to ensure polling in a peaceful manner. He said political opponents should **t express their reservations over the PPP candidate’s success. Chandio said that in the past the political opponents of PPP had been accused of doing rigging in the election on widespread basis. It would be quite meaningless if the same elements this time accuse the PPP for committing rigging in the by-poll. He said that ** bogus voting was done this time in the by-poll held in Malir . To a question, he said the PPP candidate who won the by-poll in PS-127 did **t possess dual nationality.
