Says ** action should be taken against MQM;
believes opposition is **n-serious in framing ToRs LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain should be brought to Pakistan and awarded exemplary punishment after a trial here for giving anti-Pakistan remarks. Talking in a private channel programme, he said a case should be lodged against Altaf Hussain according to the law and Constitution after bringing him to Pakistan. He said as the MQM was a political party and an action should **t be taken against it. Pakistan enjoyed good relations with United Kingdom (UK) government and we hoped they would cooperate with Pakistan for perusing case against him. Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest rally, he said protesters were **t happy with the progress and development in the country due to prudent policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leadership. He said the PML-N government did **t fear protests and rallies by the PTI, as the masses support is with the PML-N. He said the incumbent government had launched several power projects to end loadshedding. The government had saved billions of rupees in power and other development projects due to transparency. The CM said the people were aware about the facts on Panama Papers allegations against prime minister and his family but Imran Khan was doing politics on the issue. He said Imran himself owned an offshore company but he never made it clear to the public. He said Imran was protecting his corrupt companions in the wake of Panama papers. Shahbaz said the PM appeared before the people twice to clarify himself on Panama papers despite the fact that his name was **t mentioned in the list. The opposition parties were **t serious from day one to formulate terms of reference (ToRs) on Panama papers enquiry. He said PTI’s sit-in had delayed visit of Chinese President to Pakistan and halted China-Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor (CPEC) like development projects. Shahbaz said Orange Line Train was a mega project of public welfare and it would be completed. He said, “We respect the decision of high court on the project; however, we would go to the Supreme Court.” –APP Our Correspondent: Earlier, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif attended the joint graduation ceremony of Punjab Riverine Police Force and National Integrated Counter-Terrorism Course at National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Pabbi, Kharian on Friday. He thanked Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif, Lt-Gen Umar Farooq Durrani, Lt-Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and trainers for making excellent arrangements by Army and civil law-enforcement agencies for the training. He awarded medals to jawans of Pak Army and police for showing outstanding performance. He congratulated the jawans of Punjab Police as well as ******rs and jawans of Pak Army over completion of the training. According to a handout, addressing the ceremony, the CM said that Punjab Riverine Police Force had been set up to combat anti-social and criminal elements in riverine areas. He said the Punjab government made a request to Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in 2015 for the preparation of Punjab Riverine Police Force who accepted it. He said expert trainers of Pak Army had imparted training to Punjab Riverine Force in a professional manner. Shahbaz said Pakistan would achieve that dignified status which was envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and 20 crore people of the country will be able to lead a peaceful and prosperous life. The CM said the whole nation was united in the war against terrorism. He said there was ** other option but to win the war against terrorists. He said the successes achieved in Operation Zarb-e-Azab were leaving a positive impact on the whole society. He said civil and military leadership was on one page at the start of Operation Zarb-e-Azab and the government and armed forces are still determined to take this war to its logical end.
