PPP says ** backdoor contacts, reconciliation with govt

ISLAMABAD: Ruling out any reconciliation with the federal government, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has given a lie to reports of any rapprochement or concession to the rulers and backdoor contacts.

PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday, in a consensus decision reached in a London moot, sought to take the issues pertaining to the federal government’s corruption to its logical end.

Brushing aside the reports regarding any backdoor contacts with the government, the PPP is determined to give a tough time to Nawaz Sharif over the PanamaLeaks by putting to use all possible vistas, including parliament, Election Commission, judiciary and road agitation. All the government’s stratagems to mislead and blackmail the opposition will fizzle out ultimately, the PPP leaders said.

In the meeting in London, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari held a detailed discussion on the country’s political situation in the wake of Panama Papers scandal. They also exchanged views on references filed against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The PPP leadership has decided to take the issue of PanamaLeaks to its logical conclusion.It may be mentioned here that the opposition parties have seized on the Panama Papers scandal as a fresh opportunity to try to unseat Nawaz Sharif.
