SUKKUR: The Mehran University ******rs Welfare Association (MUOWA) and the Mehran University Employees Welfare Association (MUEWA) continued their protests on the fourth day running.
They staged a demonstration against the Sindh government’s appointment of a registrar and the posting of over 12 faculty members on administrative positions at the Mehran University of Engineering & Tech**logy (MUET). They termed the move as government’s intervention in the auto**my of the universities and demanded of the government to withdraw those appointments. The protesters staged a sit-in at the main entrance to the administration building against the appointment of a professor on the post of the registrar by the Sindh government and other postings including those of directors. According to some ******rs, the appointments of teachers were an immense hindrance in their promotions to the next grades. A delegation of the Sindh Universities ******rs Federation also participated in the protest demonstration of the MUET ******rs and employees to express solidarity with them. Addressing the protesters, the president of MUOWA, Sagheer Ahmed Memon, termed the postings a violation of the provincial government’s August 2015 agreement with the Sindh Universities ******rs Federation (SUOF) and the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic staff Association (FAPUASA) in which, he said, the government had assured the associations that it would **t make appointments on administrative positions, leaving it to all the public sector universities to appoint the registrars, controllers of exam and directors of finance. He said that the two sides had recommended amendments to the Sindh universities act to restore the varsities’ auto**my and curtail the government’s powers in this regard. However, the government had **t yet tabled a related bill in the Sindh Assembly. "This clearly shows the intention of the government. It is simply indulging in delaying tactics," he said. Addressing on the occasion, the vice president of the association, Imdad Ali Bughio, an**unced that the ******rs and employees would boycott work for an hour daily and then decide on future course of action after assessing the provincial government’s response. The Sindh University ******rs Welfare Association also expressed its support for their counterparts in MUET. أكثر... ??????? ??????: MUET staff protests against appointment*of registrar, other officials || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
