Ex-wife gifted house to PTI chief; PML-N files reference against Imran with NA speaker
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday filed a reference with the Speaker National Assembly seeking disqualification of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as Member of the National Assembly. An an**uncement by the National Assembly Secretariat said a delegation of Members of National Assembly from the PML-N met the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in his chamber in the Parliament House on Friday. The delegation members submitted a reference under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution for disqualification of Imran Khan from the National Assembly seat. The reference said that Imran Khan does **t meet the criteria set out in articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, whereas, a disqualified person has ** right to sit in the assembly.The reference said Imran Khan set up an offshore company and he did **t even declare his assets in **mination papers. According to the reference, the PTI chairman also did **t declare his property outside the country. The delegation included Talal Chaudhry, Danyal Aziz, Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Chaudhry Hamid Hameed, Nadeem Abbas, Syed Ashiq Hussain Shah, Muhammad Khan Daha and Mian Abdul Mannan. The members of delegation sought the speaker’s decision on disqualification of Imran Khan. In his remarks, the speaker assured the members that a decision on the reference will be taken according to the Constitution and rules.Later, talking to media persons, Danyal Aziz said Imran Khan is the founder of an offshore company and used black money to secure assets outside the country. Chairman Privatizati10n Commission Muhammad Zubair said Imran Khan had purchased a flat in England through an offshore company in 1983 and kept this information undisclosed for 30 years. “Never in tax returns, Imran mentioned this flat,” he said. He said that according to Imran Khan, his ex-wife gifted the house to him in Bani Gala in 2005 whereas gift deeds are allowed only among blood relations.Talal Chaudhry said the PTI chairman had deviated from the manifesto of across-the-board accountability as his party had failed to bring an speak truth while declaring assets in **mination papers,” he said.
