Imran, sister?s day-long allegations proved wrong
ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Although PTI Chairman Imran Khan and his sister Dr Uzma spent the entire Friday levelling allegations against the prime minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz, they proved wrong in the end.
As reaction to the allegations levelled by Dr Uzma, Maryam said she felt sorry for her but rejected the claims, adding that she wasn’t even in Lahore at the time of the incident. In a response on Twitter, Maryam said she felt sorry for Dr Uzma and was in Islamabad when she received the news about the incident. She added that she reached Lahore at 4:30pm and the liars should have some shame at least in the month of Ramazan. Earlier, Dr Uzma had alleged that her car was hit by one of the vehicles of Maryam’s motorcade on the Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi Road in Gulberg, Lahore, and had been harassed by policemen who were part of the convoy. Later, she, however, conceded that she didn’t k**w whose convoy it was. The incident occurred outside the residence of Asim Gujjar – Bilawal House Lahore manager. He said AJK President Sardar Yaqoob had visited him to offer condolence over the death of his mother. The officials, who were part of the AJK president’s protocol, exchanged harsh words with Dr Uzma, he added. And in Karachi, the PTI chairman alleged that some security personnel accompanying Maryam pointed guns at his sister, while there were children in her vehicle. “It depicts the feudal thought.” Talking to the media at the airport, he said in which capacity Maryam was running the country in the prime minister’s absence and who allowed her to deem the country a personal property.Soon after the news about Dr Uzma’s claims was flashed on TV screens, a Sharif family spokesman clarified that Maryam was still in Islamabad contrary to the allegations levelled by Imran’s sister. The sister should **t tell lie like her brother, he added. “She should learn to speak the truth. She should **t distort the facts,” the statement said, adding that Maryam was on the nerves of the PTI leadership.In his reaction, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid asked Imran to be ashamed of his lies and said the PTI was in a habit of creating issues on the basis of sheer lies. Imran caused billions of rupees loss to the country by chanting the baseless rigging slogan and promoted indecent talk, but did **t tender an apology after being proven wrong before the judicial commission, he said. Imran repeated the same in the case of offshore companies, Pervaiz added.
