PPP **t part of conspiracy against democracy: Khursheed
Hopes govt will find solution to PanamaLeaks issue
SUKKUR: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said on Sunday that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was **t part of any conspiracy against democracy and expressed the hope that the government would find a solution to the PanamaLeaks issue. He said there was a possibility of a meeting between Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He was talking to the media here. Khursheed Shah, however, said that he didn’t have any update on if and when the two leaders would meet. The prospect of a meeting between the two leaders can**t be ruled out, said the leader of the opposition. He said that Imran Khan had **t dissociated himself from the opposition over the PanamaLeaks issue, but had an**unced he would launch street agitation if parliament ig**red the PanamaLeaks issue. Khursheed Shah said that if parliament didn’t address the issues of people, then the people would have ** other option but to come out on the roads, which would deepen the political crisis. The leader of the opposition said that the PanamaLeaks issue was a global issue, and it was **t confined only to Pakistan. He said that a parliamentary committee had decided to frame the TORs, and its first priority was to form a commission over the PanamaLeaks. Khursheed Shah said that almost all the parties were united against the government.Khursheed said that the PPP supported the prime minister during Imran Khan’s sit-in movement in Islamabad. He said that all those who had had their loans written off must be held accountable. He said that he had **t obtained any loan from a bank. He said the party manifesto and policy were two different things.He said that there was **thing wrong if Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had demanded the resignation of the prime minister because Nawaz Sharif also made a similar demand when Yousuf Raza Gilani was the prime minister. Khursheed Shah asked the Punjab government to tell the people what development was made in Punjab in the last seven years. He challenged the government to tell the people developments were made in Punjab in the last seven years. The Leader of the Opposition challenged the government to tell the people if it had constructed any three to four-thousand bed hospital anywhere in Punjab. He said that the Punjab government was only focusing on coal projects, which was climatically **t good and creating different diseases. Khursheed Shah said that the Punjab government was going to be spending 37 billion rupees on such projects which would devastate Punjab in 10 to 15 years’ time. The Leader of the Opposition emphasized on the need for solar energy projects. He wondered why the central government was **t taking any interest in coal reservoirs of Thar and only focusing on Punjab coal energy project. Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that China had stopped its coal energy projects. The Leader of the Opposition said that he was **t sure whether to call the projects launched by the Punjab government as “mega-projects” or “mega-corruption projects”. He said that claims of development the government had been making at the public meetings were **t genuine developments. Khursheed Shah said that the people wanted to see development in the real sense of the word.
