Co-accused in Dr Asim
case gets protective bail from SHC
Karachi: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday granted transitory protective bail to Co-accused involved in the multi-million corruption reference against former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain. Abdul Hameed, finance director of Dr Asim’s private hospital, who is out of Pakistan, approached the SHC through his lawyer for obtaining transitory protective bail in a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The applicant’s counsel submitted that his client wanted to surrender before the trial court and face the trial proceedings. The court granted protective interim bail to the applicant till May 25 with surety of Rs5,00,000 and directed him to surrender before the trial court. Dr Asim and others have been indicted by the accountability court for causing loss to the national exchequer to the tune of Rs462 billion through fraudulent allotments and illegal encroachment of the State land. They have also been indicted for money laundering and extending undue favours to handpicked fertilizer cartel through illegal and unjustified curtailment of gas for exploitative price hike, black marketing and derangement of load management priority in from 2010 to 2013. أكثر...
