PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has ordered constitution of high-level committee for finding out a workable solution to the issue of the forest ownership in the Malakand division within a month. He issued these directives while talking to a jirga from Malakand division at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday, said an official handout.
Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan, Special Assistant for Environment Ishtiaq Urmar, Special Assistant for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, members provincial assemblies Dr. Haider Ali, Mohammad Ali, Syed Jaffar Shah, **table of the area and provincial secretaries for environment, law and senior ******rs were present on the occasion. Senior Minister Inayatullah Khan highlighted the grievances of the people of the forest growing areas of the division. He demanded an end to the apprehensions of the people about ownership of forests that surfaced after promulgation of forest Ordinance 2002. The senior minister demanded uniformity in the ratio of forest royalty in the province. He remarked that people of the area were appreciating policy adopted by the present government for the promotion of forests. Inayatullah Khan assured full cooperation by the dwellers of the area in protecting the forests. The chief minister, while responding to the demands of the Jirga, said the government was committed to protecting the rights of the people of the province and that is why problems of the people were being given due importance.
