The NEBIAS project (NEurocontrolled BIdirectional Artificial upper limb and Hand prosthesiS) is a European collaboration to build a highly advanced prosthetic Hand capable, among other things, of letting its user actually Feel what’s between the fingers. The device has been tested on a Danish amputee who lost his arm in a fireworks accident. He had a special neuronal Interface implanted into the remaining arm that Lets him control the arm while feeling how hard the objects are the arm is in contact with.
