Police have clashed with Palestinians in Jerusalem?s old quarter. It comes amid rising tensions in the Israeli-occupied eastern part of the city. There was a heavy police presence for Friday prayers and access to the al-Aqsa*mosque was limited to men over 40 and women of all ages, amid fears of further unrest. The restrictions came 36 hours after an alleged attack by a Palestinian which killed an Israeli baby, and led to Clashes in East Jerusalem. The move to restrict access to the mosque sparked demonstrations by Hamas supporters in Hebron, where scuffles also broke out. Clashes over the site have grown in frequency and intensity in recent months and this comes after the conflict in Gaza this summer.
