KARACHI: The holy month of Ramazan will begin in country from today (Thursday), Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman announced Wednesday, Geo News reported. The committee led by Mufti Muneebur Rehman met for sighting of the Ramazan moon. The meeting was held at the main office of the Meteorological Department, where evidence of Moon sighting was collected. Ruet-e-Hilal Committee earlier also called on citizens to spot the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars and to contact them for recording their testimonies. In Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the Moon was also sighted on Wednesday. The month of Ramazan will begin on May 17 in the two countries. Earlier, the Australian National Imams Council declared that Ramazan will begin today (Thursday).
