MOSCOW: Russian investigators have arrested top officials in the North Caucasus region of Dagestan in an embezzlement probe, seizing a stash of weapons including a gold pistol, officials said Monday. The Investigative Committee has been looking into suspected embezzlement of budget funds allocated to Dagestan for social programmes, and found that top officials in the regions were implicated, it said in a statement. These include Dagestan´s acting prime minister Abusamad Gamidov.
