Strict action against those behind PU violence: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said those breaking law and creating disturbance in the Punjab University did not deserve any leniency, adding that Strict action would be taken against those indulging in violence. The chief minister, chairing a meeting, said no one would face injustice and added that the Punjab University belonged to the entire country, not a single province. He said a permanent and solid policy should be devised to avoid such incidents in the future. Youth from Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were studying at the Punjab University, ?and it our responsibility to provide the best educational environment to them, the chief minister stressed.
Separately, Shahbaz presided over a meeting to discuss the progress on the second phase of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI).
On the other hand, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order with the chief minister in the chair reviewed the investigation into the Zainab murder case.
He said no one would be allowed to influence the transparent probe and distorting facts was tantamount to damaging the country?s interests.
He said the Punjab government had never done anything against the national interests and would not allow anybody to do that.Shahbaz said the ambitions of those who wanted to create doubts had been exposed, adding that he was personally monitoring the progress on investigation and would take every possible step to ensure justice.
