ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar Friday took notice of rape and murder of four-year-old girl Asma and called a report from Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 24 hours. The media had reported that Asma, a resident of Gujar Garhi area of Mardan, had gone missing and later on her sexually assaulted body was found lying in a nearby field.
Taking notice of the issue, the chief justice of Pakistan called a report from the Inspector General of Police, KP within 24 hours. On Friday, the media reported that the Punjab Forensic Sciences Agency (PFSA) had confirmed that the minor girl was sexually assaulted before murder. Quoting Muhammad Ashraf Tahir, Director-General Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), the media reported that the evidence collected from the victim?s body, clothes and shoes and samples taken during post-mortem concluded that she was raped. Mardan police had sent samples of blood, nails and hair along with her clothes, shoes and glasses to the PFSA. Dr. Tahir said the next step in the investigation would be to match the DNA with the suspects.The police had submitted over 200 samples. It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Tahir has also been summoned by the Supreme Court in the Zainab murder case being taken up by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday, January 28 at the Supreme Court, Lahore Registry.
