ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted 15 more days to the management of banks to come up with viable solutions to the problems of bank pensioners and warned if no amicable solution is found, the court would give its verdict in accordance with the law.
A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar comprising Justice Umar Atta Bandiyal and Justice Ijazul Ahsan continued hearing into the suo moto case and asked the management of banks to come up with viable solutions to the difficulties being faced by the bank pensioners.
While referring to the lawyers of banks, the chief justice of the apex court said that there should be a balanced approach with regard to demands of pensioners and the stance taken by the management of banks. ?We don?t want the whole ship to sink in the wake of our decision,? he added.He said if they took a decision on an immediate basis, it could cause increased financial burden on the banks but reminded that no one has taken care of pensioners. The court adjourned this case till its next hearing.
