LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said the purpose of celebrating National Voters? Day was to highlight the importance and utility of vote among the public.
In his message, the chief minister said the opinion of voters was pivotal in any democratic system as people were the pillars of strength and the power that decided the fate of the governments through their vote.
He said the PML-N was the custodian of democratic norms and had always played a positive role in strengthening of the democratic institutions. Meanwhile, the chief minister expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of former Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore MS Dr Javid Rasheed.
