Bahria Town to construct interchange on M-9 on its own

ISLAMABAD: Bahria Town and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) on Thursday signed an agreement under which Bahria Town will construct a special interchange on M-9, costing billions of rupees.
Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz and Vice Chief Executive Zain Malik attended the signing ceremony and shared their views with the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Malik Riaz said they had fulfilled the promise of providing latest facilities in modern housing schemes. The interchange, he added, would ease the traffic issues for not only Karachi but also for those moving in and out of the city. According to the agreement, Bahria Town will construct to two bridges, three underpasses, one causeway and a plaza on the adjacent roads by spending its own money. The construction work will start soon after obtaining necessary permissions.
This project will be a great addition to the 400 feet wide 18-lane Jinnah Avenue (built on the pattern of Dubai?s Sheikh Zayed Road) and the related network of roads to provide swift transport facilities to both the residents of Bahria Town and the people of Karachi. It will also bring the Bahria Town residents and recreational facilities closer to the citizens of Karachi.
Malik Riaz said the latest project was part of the tradition that included Clifton flyovers and underpasses, adding that the cleanliness drive, among other things, was also an effort to restore the greatness of Karachi.
He said Bahria Town had hired the services of the world?s best architects for the projects in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Bahria Town Karachi was the largest venture of its kind in Pakistan, where thousands of families were enjoying unique, secure and luxurious lifestyle, Malik Riaz added.
He said the project had not only introduced new dimensions of lifestyle but also laid the foundation of a healthy master plan, providing world class recreation and services. None of the roads in Bahria Town Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi were broken because of the world class maintenance standards, Malik Riaz noted.
