ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday accused the protesters of Islamabad sit-in of inciting people through propaganda on social media, rejecting the impression that government has allowed any flexibility on the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat.
?There is no lacuna in the law relating to Khatm-e-Nabuwwat,? he told a press conference.
The Minister who was flanked by Peer Ameenul Hasnat, Minister of State for religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, said , ?No government can compromise on the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat. Khatm-e-Nabuwwat is part of our faith?
The interior Minister said the parliament and the people of the country were custodian of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat.
Ahsan Iqbal said inciting religious sentiments was not appropriate, adding that Pakistan?s enemies are taking advantage of the image created by the protesters.
?We have showed restraint,"* he said in response to a question and appealed to the religious leaders to call off the sit-in as Islamabad was going to host foreign dignitaries at Joint Coordination Committee meeting on Monday.
He said although the entire nation was united on the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, the protesters have created the impression though their sit-in that the nation was divided on the issue.
