Watch a weather observer struggle to stand in 105-mph winds

In 1934, the summit even played host to the fastest wind gust ever recorded on the surface of the Earth: 231 miles per hour. Now, 105 mph isn't quite that fast. But, as you'll see from the video above, it's no picnic to walk in. On Friday, weather observer Tony Padham ventured outside in those gusts — as well as the summit's coldest wind chill of the year thus far (-40 degrees Fahrenheit) — for what he called "a bit of fun."
