Even before The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, director Rian Johnson has a new Star Wars gig.*

He'll be producing the first ever Star Wars trilogy of movies that isn't part of the Skywalker saga, Lucasfilm announced Thursday — alongside a simultaneous announcement of a new TV show.*

"Johnson will create a brand-new*Star Wars*trilogy, the first of which he is also set to write and direct," read the announcement on StarWars.com.*
