ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge West Islamabad Muhammad Shabir on Saturday approved a four-day physical remand of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi. The judge ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to present the SECP chief in court on July 26. During the hearing, the counsel for Hijazi argued that the sugar of his client was high from Friday. He said according to a medical board, the health of Hijazi was **t good as he had been brought to the court in ambulance because he was suffering from liver and kidney diseases. During the hearing, the FIA officials requested the court to grant 10-day physical remand of the SECP chairman. The FIA officials said there were allegations of misuse of authority and pressurising his subordinates as investigations in this regard were underway. However the counsel for Hijazi opposed the FIA plea for physical remand. He said the inquiry into the matter was already underway and record had been taken into custody so there was ** need of granting physical remand of Hijazi. The court reserved the judgment after completion of arguments and later on an**uncing the verdict, the court handed over Hijazi in FIA custody on four-day physical remand. It is worth mentioning here that Zafar Hijazi was diag**sed with a kidney infection on Saturday soon after he was arrested by the FIA on Friday after Special Judge Central Tahir Mehmood cancelled his bail. The result of Hijaz’s heart exercise, the tolerance test (ETT) was positive however he was shifted to the CCU for treatment of his kidney infection at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). A**ther round of medical tests will be conducted after 24 hours. Earlier on July 17 a lower court granted a five day pre arrest bail to Hijazi against two surety bonds worth Rs250 000 each after the SECP chief filed for a pre arrest bail as per Section 498 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Pakistan citing medical grounds as the basis for the request. An FIA inquiry team had found Hijazi guilty of tampering the records of companies owned by the Sharif family and recommended registering a First Information Report (FIR) against him. The team submitted a 28 page inquiry report to the Supreme Court (SC) on July 9 in which it endorsed the stance of the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the offshore assets of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family in connection with the Panamagate case. Hijazi s lawyer had argued in court that SECP staffers did **t tamper records of Chaudhry Sugar Mills under duress. -- Sabah أكثر... ??????? ??????: Hijazi remanded in FIA custody for four days || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
