LAHORE: Ata Manika has resigned as Punjab revenue minister, according to sources. He sent his resignation to Punjab Chief minister Shahbaz Sharif last Friday, and awaits a formal approval. The provincial cabinet has suffered a major setback as the important Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader has expressed his dissatisfaction with the ruling party. He said in a tête-à-tête that he was given dysfunctional departments.
Manika said, “The (Punjab) government kept me up against a brick wall for the past four years.” He complained that he was only able to meet the Punjab chief minister twice in his whole tenure, despite efforts. About the resignation, he said that his family and friends consistently pressurised him to call it quits since the very beginning. “The CM Secretariat tried to stop the reports of resignation and forced me to take it back,” Manika said.
