Imran flanked by ?kings of corruption?: Marriyum

PESHAWAR: Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan had given his flanks to the kings of corruption. She claimed that Imran Khan had **w realised that because he might face humiliation on this forum too he started campaign to make the JIT controversial. “Imran Khan has ** respect for the state institutions. He believes in the politics of confrontation and hatred,” she alleged. She said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif committed a political blunder by allowing PTI to form its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at “Meet the Press” programme of the Peshawar Press Club, she said she did **t see any big change in the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where Imran Khan’s party had been in power for the last four years. “**w [Prime Minister] Nawaz Sharif himself admitted his mistake for leaving the people of the province at the mercy of a man (Imran Khan), who has **t ho**ured his promise of change and development,” she said. She added that people of the province had been deprived of basic rights during the last four years. The state minister was flanked by adviser to prime minister and provincial president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Amir Muqam, MNA Tahira Bukhari, MPA Sobia Shahid and others.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Fata reforms would be implemented during the tenure of the PML-N government as it was the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to eliminate British-inherited system in Fata and provide fundamental human, constitutional and legal rights to people of the tribal areas. “Some people are playing politics over tribal reforms but let me assure you that these reforms would be implemented by this government,” she added. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that some elements had been trying to promote sectarian violence and clashes in Pakistan but they would **t succeed in their designs as all sects, tribes and territories had equal rights and opportunities in the country. She asked the media to play due role in promoting peace and harmony in the country.

“The federal government had an**unced compensation for the victims of Parachinar, but **w some people are linking it to the Punjab government,” she pointed out.

Discussing the Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s probe of the Sharif family, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the prime minister and his entire family appeared before the JIT because they respected law and the courts. “Like the previous accountability process, the Sharif family would prove in**cent in the PanamaLeaks case,” she maintained.

She said the present government had taken numerous steps for the welfare and protection of journalists, adding, that a bill for safety and welfare of media persons would be passed by Parliament soon.
