Nehal Hashmi playing games with court: SC
 PML-N senator given more time to submit reply in threat speech case ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday observed that Senator Nehal Hashmi was playing games with the court, while giving him a**ther chance to submit his reply to the show-cause **tice issued to him for his speech-- threatening the institutions of dire consequences. A three-member Special Implementation Bench of the PanamaLeaks, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsen, resumed hearing in the show-cause **tice, issued to former PML-N Senator Nehal Hashmi for his speech, threatening the institutions of dire consequences. The court gave a**ther opportunity to Nehal Hashmi for filing his reply after his counsel Hashmat Habib submitted that he did **t have the copy of the transcript, and requested the court that he should be provided with a copy of transcript so that he could file the reply. The court, however, observed that on the first day of hearing, he requested the bench to give some time to file reply and, while cautioning him, had given him chance. The order further recalled that on the second hearing, he appeared before the court in person and requested to grant time so that he could engage the counsel. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, while **ting the order said that today (Friday) he appeared before the Court along with his counsel and told that he did **t have the copy of the transcript and requested the court that he should be provided with a copy of the transcript so that he could file reply. Meanwhile, the court, after accepting the request of Hashmat Habib representing Hashmi, seeking 10 days for submitting reply, gave him one more chance in the interest of justice, directed him to file reply before June 23. The court directed the attorney general for Pakistan to supply him the video clipping and the transcription of the speech. The AGP handed over both these documents to Hashmi’s counsel in the courtroom. Earlier, during the proceedings Hashmat Habib filed an application. According to Hashmi was issued show-cause **tice on 5th June and was submitted him to file reply by June 16, 2017. It says that the show-cause **tice was issued on basis of the transcript of his speech which telecast by various TV channels, containing allegation of threat. He stated that ** statement of allegations with **tice was supplied to him, adding it appears that telecast speech was prepared out of context; therefore, complete transcript of the speech and portion of its telecast on channels should be provided to him. During the proceedings, Justice Ijazul Ahsan asked the senator as to why did he **t demand the transcript on the first hearing. He said the whole world is aware of the speech while its video could be obtained from the Google and YouTube. Hashmat Habib, however, said: “My client being a senior lawyer respects the judiciary and bows before this court and can**t even imagine extending threats to judges as alleged. “We wanted to be fair to him [Hashmi] then he should be fair to this court,” Justice Ejaz Afzal told the learned counsel. Hashmat Habib also requested the court to issue direction to quash the criminal cases registered against him in Karachi. Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, a**ther member of the bench, however, told the counsel that the court has ** concern with that matter.
