A Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Macie was recently given emergency surgery after she somehow managed to swallow an entire eight-inch long kitchen knife.

“Macie was making a squeaking sound — I thought she’d swallowed part of a toy,” owner Irene Paisley of Glasgow, UK, said in a statement.*

“Then she was sick, but there was ** sign of a toy and she started choking.”

The 12-week-old Macie was taken to an out-of-hours emergency service provided by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA), where she was X-rayed and given surgery. Read more...
